— 概要 —
2018年と2019年の2回、シベリア鉄道でロシアを旅しました。旅の中で出会った人々や風景を「Домой -故郷-」というキーワードにまとめた写真展です。
フィルムカメラ・ライカM4-Pにロシアレンズを装着して撮影し、作者自ら暗室でバライタ印画紙に焼き付けたモノクロプリントを展示します。
オリジナルプリントの販売や写真集(Zine)の販売も行います。
— ステートメント —
「ダモイ」。旅の途中、私は何度もこの言葉を聞き、少しドキッとしていた。シベリアに抑留された人たちが聞いたという言葉だったからだ。日本とロシアの間には戦争の記憶や領土問題など今もお互いの関係に隔たりがある。北海道で育った私はそれを強く感じていた。未知の国ロシアを知りたい。その好奇心からシベリア鉄道で旅をすることにした。ウラジオストク~モスクワまでの約9000km の区間を何度も乗り降りし、車内の人たちと話し、人や景色を撮った。出稼ぎ労働者、エンジニア、軍人、商人、旅人、様々な人と仕事や文化、政治、歴史などをグーグル翻訳越しに語り合った。彼らは饒舌で気さくで自由に話す。ロシアは閉鎖的という私の想像はひと昔前のステレオタイプだったのだろう。「Домой(ダモイ)」。これは故郷や家庭、帰るということを意味する言葉だ。親しくなると彼らはその言葉を多用し、自慢の風景や家族や友人の写真を嬉しそうに見せてくる。君のことも知りたいと根掘り葉ほり聞いてくるのも微笑ましい。鉱山の労働を終えて実家へ帰る途中の男は言った。
「この鉄道があるから故郷へ帰ることができる。家族に会うことができる。君にも会えた。故郷を見せたい。」
遠くから来た私を分け隔てなく受け入れ知ろうとする彼らの姿に感動した。気がつくと、私と彼らの間にある汚れた窓は取り払われていた。
“Damoy”, I heard this word many times on my trip, and I suprised. Because it was the word heard by the people detained in Siberia. There are still gaps between Japan and Russia in relation to each other, such as memory of war and territorial issues. I grew up in Hokkaido and I strongly felt that separation.I want to know Russia, an unknown country. With that curiosity, I decided to travel on the Siberian Railway. And I got on and off the section of about 9000km from Vladivostok to Moscow many times, talked with people in the car, and took pictures of people and scenery. I talked about work, culture, politics, history, etc. with migrant workers, engineers, soldiers, merchants, travelers and various people through Google translation. They are talkative, friendly and free to speak. My imagination that Russia was closed was probably a stereotype a long time ago.“Домой”. This is a word that means go home, hometown, and family. When they get to know each other, they often happily show off their proud landscapes and photos of family and friends.
The man on his way home after finishing work in the mine said.
“I can go home because of this railroad, and can meet my family, and can see you. I want to show you my hometown.”
I was impressed that they accpet me without any distinction. At that time, I noticed that the dirty windows between me and them had been removed.
